Thank you for visiting The Reading Space!™

My name is Melinda Madden, and I am a Reading Specialist and Interventionist with the Kansas City Missouri School District.

I am dedicated to helping students who read two or more grade levels below expectations develop the literacy skills they need to become successful, confident learners!

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

As both an educator and a product of urban schools, I bring a unique perspective and deep commitment to the children and communities I serve. Throughout my entire teaching career, I have focused on working with urban students, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve academic success.

From an early age, I dreamed of becoming a teacher who would make learning meaningful and engaging through stories, songs, chants, movement, and hands-on experiences.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing students transition from learning to read to reading to learn. This transformation inspires me to continuously expand my expertise and refine my instructional practices to better meet the needs of diverse learners.

My goal is to be the most effective elementary and middle school reading educator possible, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to develop strong literacy skills and a lifelong love of learning.
